What liquids can I dispense with my seripettor®?
The seripettor® is designed to dispense many of the liquids used in a biology laboratory, such as: Culture media, buffers, bases, dilute non-oxidizing acids, and solutions containing sodium azide. The seripettor® is especially useful for solutions, as the disposable wiping-seal cartridge allows for easy replacement of wearing parts. However, there are two major liquids used in a biology laboratory that are NOT compatible with the seripettor®. One is scintillation fluid, the other is dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Both liquids will damage the seripettor and void the warranty. DMSO can be dispensed with either the Dispensette® III or Dispensette® Organic. For scintillation fluid, it will depend on the exact composition, but one of the Dispensette® models will work well. See the selection chart for a complete list of reagents compatible with the seripettor® : seripettor selection chart
Can I autoclave my seripettor®?
The entire seripettor® must not be autoclaved. However, it is possible to dispense sterile media with a seripettor® with the purchase of:
* Appropriate sized valve block cap
* Appropriate sized sterile dispensing cartridges
* Filling tube for sterile applications
* 0.2µm filter (sterile or autoclaved)
NOTE: Dispensing cartridges cannot be autoclaved.
Complete autoclaving instructions are found in the Operating Manual: seripettor manual
Can I convert my seripettor® to a seripettor® pro?
No. It is not possible.
